About This Role:

NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising invites applications for a Director of Strategic Initiatives. The Director of Strategic Initiatives will provide leadership over short- and long-term goals of NACADA and the Executive Office, including development of new programs and innovative resources that yield organizational growth and profitability. The Director of Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for the achievement of benchmarks of the strategic plan established by the NACADA Board of Directors. The Director of Strategic Initiatives supervises staff who are responsible for initiatives managed by volunteer units, including online education, member engagement, awards and scholarships, mentorship programs, and efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Director of Strategic Initiatives also supervises staff who are responsible for engaging institutions with resources and services to improve academic advising that are provided by NACADA Consulting.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and five to 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of project management experience. Project management certification can substitute for two years of experience.
  • A minimum of five years of leadership experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, or corporate entities.
  • Evidence of leadership experience with change management, strategic planning, and leading multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Evidence of leadership over initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace or for an entire organization.

Preferred qualifications in higher education:
  • Ten or more years of leadership experience in higher education.
  • Master's degree in higher education, leadership, college student services administration, academic advising, or related field.
  • Experience providing campus- or institution-wide leadership for academic advising.
  • Experience in volunteer leadership roles of NACADA.

Preferred qualifications in nonprofit/corporate:
  • Ten or or more years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations and/or corporate entities.
  • Master's degree in business, entrepreneurship, leadership, or related field.
  • Evidence of process optimization and execution.
  • Evidence of new program development and execution that yielded profitability and/or organizational growth.
