Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Student Athlete Development will be responsible for the development and oversight of programming that enhances the student-athlete experience through the promotion of personal growth as well as supporting student-athletes' successful navigation of their intercollegiate experiences during their college careers though their post-graduation transition process. This person's overarching goal will be to provide each student-athlete with the skills necessary to achieve success in their personal and professional lives beyond their collegiate athletic experiences.

This individual will be responsible for creating, planning, and implementing effective leadership, service, professional/career and personal development workshops, events and initiatives for all departmental athletic programs. This includes working with both internal and external partners at UNC Charlotte to promote the comprehensive development of the student-athlete population.

This position will provide oversight for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee ( SAAC ) and other activities which reflect the UNC Charlotte and Charlotte Athletics' commitment to service programs and to enhancing the student-athlete experience and overall welfare.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Provide a cohesive and comprehensive development program for student-athletes that aligns with the Athletics Department's vision;
  • Organize career development opportunities which coincide with the academic and career paths of student-athletes with respect to their current phase of education;
  • Oversight of student-athlete specific programming
  • Serve as institutional and conference SAAC Advisor
  • Collaborate and partner with the University partners regarding ongoing professional and personal development programs to enhance the overall development of our student-athletes
  • Identify, implement, oversee, and track community service opportunities for all student-athletes;
  • Meet one-on-one with student-athletes to provide guidance related to career development and graduate school admissions;
  • Serve as liaison to the University Career Center to coordinate opportunities for career development, networking, and career fairs
  • Provide various reports for internal and external partners;
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • College degree is required, preferably in a related field;
  • 1-2 years of experience working in college athletics, preferably directly with student-athletes.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Sports Management or currently working towards a Master's in Sports Management or related field preferred
