The Director Operations Systems, Technology & Process Improvement is responsible for leading strategic and tactical operations management systems and technology initiatives, management systems design, development, training and implementation along with project management and plant optimization process & team leadership. The position reports to the Sr. Vice President of Operations.

Job description

The Director Operations Systems, Technology & Process Improvement is responsible for:
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and ERP systems implementation and process standardization (Genesis)
  • Leading business process automation through the development of MES systems integration design and implementation with other end to end business process and management systems from supplier through to customer.
  • Directing the team responsible for implementation of MES systems implementation, enhancements, standardization, reporting, documentation, value engineering, change & project management
  • Leading the development, documentation, training, implementation and administration of operational excellence management systems (WMMS) from strategic annual planning through layered accountability processes at all levels of the operations organization.
  • Developing supplementary analytical methods to monitor the performance and capability of manufacturing facilities to identify risks and opportunities proactively.
  • Leading specification of the scope and objective of plant optimization process team member deployment. Oversee plant optimization team member deployment and administration.
  • Facilitating planning, design, training, strategic planning sessions and Kaizen events as needed.
  • Partnering with cross functional teams in Human Resources, Marketing and communications to develop commercialized training, visual management and communication documents.
  • Conducting site visits to support implementation of operations systems and processes, lead projects, performance reviews, perform audits and assist plant optimization program requirements as well as share best practices, improve staff performance, determine resource needs, and achieve operating plan goals.
  • Partnering with the Senior Vice President Operations to develop and deploy strategic annual plans and deploy goals through layered accountability processes.
  • Demonstrating the ability to execute change in different locations within the organization, promote teamwork and teach skills to other leaders and team members to support their development and success in their roles.
  • Driving and coaching operations business unit team reviews to identify corrective actions for improving operations performance.
  • Serving as project manager for key initiatives as assigned. (Genesis, WMMS, etc.)
  • Leading complex cross functional business unit projects supporting key focus areas and following established company process improvement methodologies and standards and ensure successful implementation.
  • Managing and monitoring projects at a program level ensuring schedules, scope and costs are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with project teams, sponsors, corporate and business unit leadership and process improvement staff to support successful completion of initiative projects.
  • Providing interim support in operations management, continuous improvement, scheduling, maintenance, and quality as needed.
  • Identifying and communicating any unresolved problems or timeline issues along with recommended actions for correction.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience:
  • Required:
    • 10+ years of operations leadership experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in plant management, continuous improvement, operational excellence management, ERP / MES implementation, management system design, development and implementation, process improvement, operational turn around and culture transformation.
    • 5+ years plant financial performance accountability
    • Training and Kaizen facilitation experience
  • Preferred:
    • Large scale and/or multi-site plant management experience
    • Large scale project management and business system implementation experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Project Management Skills and Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of concepts and principles of Lean Manufacturing, Operations Excellence Systems, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Management System development, implementation and execution including but not limited to: Operations Management, Process Improvement, Maintenance Excellence, Strategic Planning, Goal Deployment, Employee engagement, Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen.
  • Advanced knowledge of program and project management principals, practices and tools.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring operational leaders to improve on process execution, leadership effectiveness, problem solving and transformational change.
Location / Travel:
    • This position can be remote or office / remote hybrid.
    • Requires 60% travel and may require extended assignment at a site if circumstances warrant.
