The Director, Private Debt & Equity position serves a primary and/or a secondary role in the underwriting of new private debt & equity investments and manages assigned portfolio investments. Responsibilities may include preparing approval memos, completing financial models and presenting transactions to the investment committee.

Responsibilities

  • Makes sure all due diligence complies with underwriting criteria.
  • Assumes a significant role in managing the underwriting process for new investment opportunities including formulation of investment thesis and identifying key risks.
  • Responsible for completion of new investment approval memos and financial models, and leads presentation of investment recommendation to investment committee.
  • Conducts and directs portfolio monitoring, amendment, and restructuring activities including analysis and reports for assigned investments.
  • Implements and is responsible for production of research projects to assist in formulation of strategic decisions.
  • Develops knowledge of and helps to better utilize implements new systems and tools to support investment process.
  • Develops relationships with new and existing general partners and with portfolio company senior management to promote new business generation.
  • Responsible for ensuring a smooth funding process and ongoing data implementation; resolves any trade operations issues.
  • Develops junior team members through mentoring, coaching and training.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:

• MBA graduate and 5-10 years relevant work experience Or Bachelor's degree in Economics/Finance related field with 7+ years relevant work experience

Preferred:

• 5-10 years corporate lending experience with a commercial bank
• 5-10 years alternative investment experience
• 5-10 years audit or accounting experience with a CPA firm
• 5-10 years investment banking, private equity or mezzanine lending experience
• 5-10 years corporate credit experience with an insurance company or other asset manager
• Masters, ASA, FSA, or CAIA
• CFA or significant progress towards

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Highly advanced understanding of investment/market concepts, including but not limited to relative value, asset liability management and investment valuation
• Highly advanced knowledge of the leveraged financed market including, private equity and the middle market lending environment
• Highly advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Highly advanced presentation skills to advance investment decisions and strategy discussions
• Highly advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
• Investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously
• Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
• Strong customer relationship management
• Highly advanced negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions
• Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
• Ability to train and manage junior team members

The general pay range for this position is $146K-$179K base per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
