Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management including developing outcome based product vision/northstars, strategies and roadmaps, Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and Market Requirements Documents (MRDs).
  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams and working with cross-functional partners.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in, navigating, and leading within a complex regulatory environment.
  • Technical understanding of operating system and application development tools and frameworks.
  • Ability to innovate beyond the status quo while also leading and driving high quality execution in complex operating systems similar to Android.
  • Ability to represent Google externally as the domain expert for their area, working closely with Android's OEMs and other ecosystem partners.
  • Ability to listen and respond to the needs of diverse customers and clearly communicate with senior executives both internally and externally.
  • Excellent collaboration and partnering skills, especially in flat, functionally-oriented organizations.


About the job

As Director, Product Management, Android Core OS, you will oversee the Android Core OS product management team responsible for setting the strategy and vision as well as guiding and driving the execution of Android Core OS releases which powers devices worldwide across phones, tablets, watches, cars, TVs, and countless other devices.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the core Android operating system continues to innovate, evolve, and deliver high quality releases in a highly dynamic environment including adapting the operating system for the Gemini Era.

Key domain areas include performance, power, audio, video, camera, permissions, private compute core as well as the core elements of the system and application framework for Android which are shared across all device types. The team is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and inspiring the work of highly experienced Android engineers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead the Android Core OS Product Management team and develop a passionate and high performing team.
  • Maximize the impact for Android engineers as they support the needs of phones, tablets, watches, TVs, Autos, and more.
  • Ensure Android Core OS has a clear long-term vision and strategy to guide roadmap planning and ensure Android is well positioned for the future.
  • Ensure Android adapts to rapidly evolving regulatory requirements and continues to lead in respecting user preferences and protecting their privacy.
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects to resolution, including excellent stakeholder and executive expectation management.
