The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and grow our talented Builder Tools teams. You will drive the evolution of our toolsets and technologies providing seamless and efficient development environments through the creation and maintenance of tools that support coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, observability, and resource optimization. You will lead teams building and operating our builder tools to take SoFi to the next level as a force multiplier organization for SoFi. What You'll Do:
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for builder tools practice and our developer platform at SoFi providing paved paths for SoFi developers and builders.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define long term cloud strategies that enhance scalability, resilience and reliability, and performance.
  • Lead and mentor teams of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Establish clear goals and provide guidance to ensure the successful execution of programs and initiatives.
  • Drive the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available builder tools solutions.
  • Oversee day to day operations, ensuring optimal operation of highly resilient and reliable platforms.
  • Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the software development process.
  • Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leaders, technical program managers, and stakeholders to deliver value, drive operational excellence, and ensure a highly reliable overall architecture.


What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in strong leadership roles, preferably within software engineering fields.
  • Deep expertise in designing and managing cloud-based solutions with a strong focus on security and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, principles, and strategies for developer tooling including observability, CI/CD, and build systems, and paved paths for developers.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Experience with AWS, Datadog, Argo CD and Argo Rollouts, is a plus.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, such as finance, is a plus.


Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and location.

Pay range: $192,000.00 - $330,000.00

Payment frequency: Annual
