About the job

Our Technical Enablement and Delivery team (TED) accelerates strategic, transformative research by building and driving technical programs, in collaboration with research teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external partners. Orchestrations of this team are essential to Google Research's success.

The Director, Technical Enablement and Delivery will manage Technical Program Management teams across Research's priority efforts for our three domains of focus: Computing Systems, Foundational ML and Algorithms, and Applied Science and Societal Impact. Through leadership of this team, you will accelerate research progress, by providing scaffolding and structure to define and deliver research roadmaps and achieve the product area's objectives and key results. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, and product area leadership to ensure the research portfolio's status and needs are both well-defined and understood. In addition, you will partner with key stakeholders across product areas to deliver research into Google products, and further inform research roadmaps.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Ensure each focus area within TED is deeply engaged with each other, wider Strategy Operations, and the product area to support an integrated, holistic ecosystem of efforts that directly benefit the product area's priority needs. Manage a team and support the teams' milestones.
  • Engage with product area and Strategy Operations leaders to drive product area-wide engagement and understanding of TED progress, priorities, and changes.
  • Ensure the TED team have developed sound project plans and roadmaps across the research spectrum (i.e., foundational, applied) and influence the team to deliver on priority research milestones.
  • Ensure Research's priorities are adequately staffed and supported and identify resource solutions.
  • Align needs from stakeholders to ensure the necessary perspectives are incorporated into team operations. Provide visibility of the research portfolio's progress to Research Executives, engaging regularly with Vice President-level leaders.
