JOB DESCRIPTION

TMZ, the world's most cited entertainment news source and the first successful multi-platform media company, is looking for an Director/Executive Director, Digital Product, who will have a pivotal role in the company's continued growth. The Director/Executive Director, Digital Product is charged with overseeing TMZ's digital product, strategy, and operations, and will work cross-functionally within TMZ and across key departments at FOX.

The Director/Executive Director, Digital Product will interact regularly with TMZ's leadership team as well as stakeholders in editorial, programming, social, marketing, operations, advertising, design, engineering, and accounting. In addition to having responsibility for the vision for TMZ's portfolio of digital products, the Executive Director, Digital Media will have oversight of the company's digital business intelligence and analytics, product development, SEO, and reporting. Moreover, this role will be instrumental in evaluating and optimizing key drivers of traffic, user experience, technical capabilities, revenue, and identifying new opportunities to present to leadership. The position is based on-site in Los Angeles, CA.

Based on your experience, you may be considered at either the Director or Executive Director level.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the development and execution of product strategies for ad products and technology, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
  • Lead product development efforts, establishing vision, objectives, and priorities while ensuring alignment with Editorial, Engineering, and other key stakeholders
  • Manage the site development process, focusing on enhancing user experience and optimizing user interface design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement monetization strategies, integrating advertising seamlessly into the user experience
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities for TMZ's digital products and execute revenue initiatives
  • Collaborate with ad sales, operations, and support teams to optimize revenue and enhance user experience
  • Innovate and create complimentary ad experiences for consumers, maximizing engagement and revenue potential
  • Drive consumer engagement by building and refining products that resonate with target audiences.
  • Identify and prioritize features and enhancements that surface what matters most to users, based on data-driven insights and user feedback
  • Identify trends in media, digital products, and technology to inform strategic decisions
  • Develop engagement points with the target audience through various channels, meeting consumers where they are to maximize reach and impact
  • Develop and optimize current suite of products against defined goals
  • Implement strategies to retain and grow the audience, fostering fandom and building a loyal user base
  • Translate TMZ's vision into actionable steps across new and existing products and initiatives
  • Maintain reports and analyze data to gauge content performance, revenue drivers, consumption patterns, and effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key vendors and partners to support digital business development
  • Establish vision for the digital organization, lead digital reviews, and develop department budgets and forecasts
  • Oversee digital media team comprising product management, business intelligence and analytics, SEO, and content operations


WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 10+ years of work experience in a leadership role, preferably with a digital news organization, demonstrating expertise in digital product UX/UI, programmatic and digital (display and video) advertising.
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering, business, or related field.
  • Proficiency in online advertising dynamics, trends, and technologies
  • Demonstrated experience and a strong understanding of CMS platforms
  • Exposure to major programming technologies and languages (including PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, XCODE, Java, and NET)
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
  • Motivated to excel in a fast-paced, news-gathering environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and effective in interactions with internal executives and external partners
  • Strong analytical/Excel skills, including the ability to identify trends in data sets

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $161,500.00-220,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
