The director will manage instructional and research operations of the Jeff Bruner Materials Characterization Lab. The director will oversee the daily operations of the lab, ensuring the safety of personnel, managing equipment and supplies. Support faculty and students with scheduled laboratory course work. The director will coordinate research projects with faculty advisors while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Essential Functions:

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

• Teach field-related laboratory technique courses (two 3-credit courses per academic year)

• Provide analysis and problem-solving guidance

• Supervise all work performed in the Bruner Lab

• Schedule and maintain equipment calibration and service

• Strong analytical skills

• Train students (Graduate Assistants, work study) and faculty on use of equipment.

• Prepare annual laboratory business model and budget.

• Manage paid client projects.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education: Master's degree or higher, preferably in a textile-related field.

AND

Experience: 3 or more years textile-industry experience preferred

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

Knowledge of textile-industry technology and trends.

Strong knowledge of fibers and fabrics.

Familiarity with ASTM and AATCC testing procedures.
