Dispatcher

Primary responsibilities included:

Tender loads to carriers utilizing the TMS tool in a manner that ensures the customer requested ship dates (RSD/RAD/SAT are met.

Route orders daily in compliance with the transportation route guide, ensuring timely execution to meet the requested ship date and secure carrier capacity.

Operate the Transportation Management System (TMS) to route orders, track carrier performance, and troubleshoot any loads that may be at risk of missing the requested arrival date.

Ensure all new orders comply with guidelines on weight and method of shipment.

Schedule appointments in WMS on all loads; working with the third-party facility manager on dock capacity scheduling.

Work with drop carriers to maintain the trailer pool.

Work with Customer Account Specialists (CAS) on scheduling issues.

Maintain reason code input within WMS for open order status reporting.

Review the previous day's dock schedule to ensure all orders shipped.

Within the Organization –Internal DC and 3rd Party Warehouse Teams (daily/weekly), 3rd Party Repack Teams(daily/weekly), Inventory Control Manager/Customization Manager (daily/weekly), Regional Transportation Manager(daily/weekly), Regional Performance Manager (daily/weekly), Chicago Customer Service, Warehouse Logistics and Supply Chain Integration Teams (daily/weekly), Delivery Processors (daily/weekly), National Site Inventory Control Teams(daily/weekly), Quality Department (daily/weekly), Finance (weekly/monthly), Corporate Audit Team (annually), National Inventory Team (daily/weekly).

All these key job roles are consulted and aligned at frequencies noted to execute the sites’ daily/weekly/monthly objectives and deliver against all site targets to internal and external customers.

Outside the Organization - Common Carriers (daily/weekly), External Auditors (annually), Overflow Storage Facility Management, Transportation and Warehouse Teams (daily/weekly), Foodbank and Donation customers (daily/weekly).

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?

Experience in the Logistics related field

Functional knowledge centered around warehousing, transportation, customer service and operations.

Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate across all levels of the organization and outside the organization.

Analytical skills to interpret reporting/data to drive performance improvement.

Strong MS Office skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access)

TMS, SAP, and WMS experience a plus.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to consistently achieve desired results, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, act decisively and solve problems.

Education: High School
