Purpose
Cincinnati Children's seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the next director for the Division of Emergency Medicine.
Position Overview
The Division of Emergency Medicine is internationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, research, and education to improve outcomes of children globally. The director will set an innovative course for the long-term growth and fiscal vitality of the division by:
• Leading and enabling transformational clinical and research programs,
• Recruiting and retaining exceptional and diverse faculty,
• Identifying emerging and new areas of emphasis and promise,
• Enabling world-class clinical and educational programming,
• Mentoring and developing the academic skills of existing faculty and recruit new faculty and clinical staff,
to fulfill the division's mission and responsibilities, including promoting a culture of collaboration and patient-
centered care.
Division physicians provide emergency care at our newly built 65 bed state-of-the-art ED at our level 1 trauma center, our 20-bed community ED and expanding network of hospital and neighborhood-based urgent cares throughout the region. As the sole pediatric acute care facility in our area, we serve a diverse population of over 2 million people with over 170,000 encounters annually.
Academically, the division anchors the PECARN HOMERUN node as a research center and has multiple international collaborations. The research mission is vibrant with key focus areas including brain and behavior, infection and inflammation, and the science of everyday care (with expertise in care standardization, informatics, resuscitation science, pre-hospital care and other key areas). The division received ~$6 million in extramural grant funding in the most recent fiscal year and division faculty and staff physicians publish over ~150 manuscripts annually.
The Division is supported by a robust infrastructure that includes a large team of research coordinators, data analysts, and faculty methodologists. Its academic model is enriched by a thriving fellowship program and an ongoing commitment to excellence in how we teach and learn together, including an innovative and dynamic simulation program.

Qualifications:
• M.D. or D.O. with board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, additional training and/or advanced degree (MPH, Ph.D., etc.) is a plu
• Ability to obtain State of Ohio Medical Board licensure
• Rank of Associate or Full Professor with eligibility for appointment as an affiliated faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
• Strong record of accomplishment in leadership, management, and financial budgeting experience, and skills in resource management, planning, and facilitation
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain trust with all stakeholder
• Demonstration of sustained excellence in research productivity, clinical care, and/or mentorship/teaching of trainees and junior faculty
• Experience in a complex, integrated academic medical setting
• Commitment to uphold principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Cincinnati Children's culture and belief
• A strong scholarly record, including manuscripts, grants, curricula, and program development
