Job Duties

DMV is hiring an office supervisor for our Transportation Safety Services unit!

The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and oversight of the quality analysis of data and data posted to customers' driving records in DMV's CSS (Citizen Service System) and TREDS crash database systems, in accordance with motor vehicle laws and to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of TREDS services in a high-volume, work environment through the coordination of operations, staff resources and equipment.

The Office Supervisor position is the first line of supervision for technical staff handling regulatory and compliance issues for the public and is responsible for implementing changes in work methods, procedures, and staffing to ensure efficient and effective operations and to maintain production and continuity of services.

The selected candidate will monitor and review the TREDS data quality control, perform DL9s and makes recommendations to improve its efficiency and effectiveness; schedule and monitor the work of the Center, create weekly/monthly reports and schedules to ensure functions are performed; ensure adequate resources are available to complete work functions, policies and procedures are updated and operate effectively; coordinate these efforts and serves as a liaison with local, state, federal, private and non-profit entities; interpret policies, procedures and statutes in order to resolve complex problems and customer concerns/questions; respond to customer inquiries; keep management apprised of status/progress of operations and take the necessary steps to improve work flow and meet goals by coordinating functions and resources; and serve as a subject expert on the interpretation and explanation of the Virginia Motor Vehicle Code, Agency policies and procedures relating to crash information processes to internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • To provide supervision and oversight of crash data operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data being processed to the state's crash database (Traffic Records Electronic Data System) and driver records system (Citizen Service System), following motor vehicle and privacy laws.
  • To ensure the efficient and timely delivery of TREDS services in a high-volume work environment by coordinating daily operations, staff resources, and equipment.
  • Serve as liaison to technical staff handling regulatory and compliance issues for the public.
  • This position is responsible for implementing changes in work methods, procedures, and staffing to ensure efficient and effective operations and to maintain daily production and continuity of services.
  • The position monitors and reviews the TREDS data quality control and makes recommendations to improve its efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Schedules and monitors the work of the Operations Center and staff. Creates weekly/monthly reports and schedules to ensure functions are performed effectively and promptly; ensures adequate resources are available to complete work functions, policies, and procedures are updated and operate effectively.
  • Coordinates these efforts and liaises with local, state, federal, private, and non-profit entities; interprets and explains policies, procedures, and state and federal statutes to resolve complex problems and customer concerns/questions; responds to customer inquiries.
