Description

Operator Helper does the lubrication, maintenance and adjustments on the bridge and all related appurtenances as assigned under the supervision of the chief operator and relieves the operators as needed

Accountabilities

  • WORK WITH EQUIPMENT. Safely and effectively operate and maintain large construction type equipment. In the performance of maintaining the equipment incumbent must be able to safely use hand and power tools
  • PRACTICE SAFE WORK HABITS. Understand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures, wear prescribed safety apparel; take appropriate action when conditions threaten safety of self or coworkers; ensure equipment and work area are in safe operating condition before starting
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Work as a team and effectively communicate within the team and with external customers
  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Qualifications - Required

  • Computer literate and have basic keyboarding computer skills
  • Proficient mechanical experience
  • Proficient verbal communication skills
  • Experience effectively operating the following: power hand tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Able to swim
  • Experience reading and understanding instructions (examples may include: operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents)
