Position Summary:

This position will assist in reverse-air drill rig operation, collect and accurately label samples, assist in drill rig maintenance & repair, and complete lab testing on prospect samples. This position will also perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks as directed by the Prospecting Manager. Must be willing to travel.

Employee will most likely be required to work long extended hours, shift work (days, afternoons, or nights), and weekend shifts, as required.

Responsibilities:

• Actively promote E.R. Jahna's Core Standards of Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

• Work safely at a variety of drilling sites and at the prospect laboratory.

• Drives truck mounted drill rig on-road and off-road as necessary to drilling locations.

• Assists in proper operation of drill rigs, compressors, and other drill related equipment.

• Performs routine inspection and assists in preventative maintenance on drill rig equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to assistant prospecting director.

• Accurately performs sieve analyses, Florida DOT color testing and other soils tests on prospect and product samples according to approved lab procedures.

• Accurately records all lab data and completes data checks.

• Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety, environmental and security standards.

• Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety, environmental and security standards.

• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision or under the direction of a supervisor.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by Management or Lead Person.

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent• Valid driver's license with good driving record and over 21 (insurance requirements) • Two (2) years of experience relating to drilling or equipment operation and/or maintenance• DOT/ACI Certification a plus• Any equivalent combination of education and experience:

• Skilled in the operation of hand tools and small power tools.

• Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time; to work safely; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and managers; and to understand and carry out written and oral instruction.

• Basic record keeping skills.

• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

• Ability to travel out of town 1 to 2 weeks per month.

• Basic mechanical knowledge to detect potential breakdown of equipment and preventative maintenance.

• Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is continually required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, listen and smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee will be required at times to work long extended hours outside at remote locations.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside the soils lab, but more often works outside in adverse weather conditions. The employee frequently works near loud moving mechanical parts, frequently exposed to hot and/or humid conditions, cold conditions, and is exposed to vibration.

Employees must follow all safety guidelines throughout designated shift. Must wear minimum 6″ steel toe boots, safety vest, eye protection, hard hat and additional PPE as required.

Benefits, Pay, and Schedule:

Pay Rate: Rate could vary dependent upon experience. Shift differential pay for nights and weekends.

Schedule: Employee will most likely be required to work long extended hours, shift work (days, afternoons, or nights), and weekend shifts, as required.

Lunch/breaks: As time permits during shift, does not have a designated break time during shift.
