Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. 1. The ECA Career Coach will serve the students in the ECA Program by providing support services to the student to include career and transfer assistance.

2. The ECA Career Coach will complete the annual ECA career coaching tasks for each ECA cohort within the program. These tasks will include individual student meetings, group sessions, and classroom presentations. The ECA Career Coach will meet with each student in one ECA grade level cohort each month (August through May). Entries into the VCCS Case Management System will reflect these meetings. The ECA Career Coach will also serve as one of the chaperones on ECA fieldtrips, including the overnight experience for rising 11th graders in the summer, if applicable.

3. The ECA Career Coach will professionally represent the college at RPS events based on their assigned school.

4. The ECA Career Coach will provide assistance to other RPS identified students with the admission and enrollment procedures lending to a smooth transition for these students between high school and Reynolds Community College.

5. The ECA Career Coach will maintain accurate written and digital records of student interactions, student progress in the program, hours worked, and student enrollment documents.

6. Serve as the liaison between the college and the students, faculty and staff at RPS schools based on their assigned school.

7. Meet at least bi-weekly with the ECA Site Director to plan activities designed to help students transition into the program, retain students in the program and help students transition out of the program and into university programs.

8. Obtain enrollment documents from the high school counselor, verify student readiness, provide and receive initial paperwork and updates for student enrollment and coordinate the timely submittal of student documents to the Office of Admissions.

The ECA Career Coach will attend all required meetings and trainings.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of academic requirements for high school graduation, community college enrollment, ECA curriculum and local and regional career opportunities is required. The ECA Career Coach must utilize computer software to maintain records, input data, and produce written reports. Demonstrated ability to provide post-secondary education academic and career information, mentoring, coordinate student activities and communicate effectively orally and in writing Must produce documentation of activities and possess the ability to develop positive working relationship with students, parents, secondary school faculty, secondary school staff, college faculty, college staff, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions and the general public.
Additional Considerations
A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university program is required. A Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting may be substituted.
Experience working with a variety of people in an academic advisory capacity is required. Experience working in both a post-secondary setting and secondary setting is preferred. Experience with the Virginia Education Wizard is preferred.
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel
Between campuses and for college events.
