Amazon Design Technologies is a multi-disciplinary team that provides design software, develops enterprise software applications, product data management (PDM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) solutions, systems platforms and design processes to our Product Development, New Technology, Operations and Manufacturing teams.

We are looking for candidates with expertise in electrical CAD (ECAD) to help develop expert knowledge on ECAD tools and their applications. As part of Design Technologies group, you stay current with industry trends and development in general and ECAD tools in particular to become a subject matter expert to Electrical Engineering (EE) community. You will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of electrical CAD tools and knowledge of how these tools interact with PDM/PLM systems. You will work within experienced design teams to streamline legacy process and gain alignment with users and advocate for additional capabilities.

Key job responsibilities

As an Electrical CAD (ECAD) Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing a stable, performant and reliable set of best-in-class software tools for hardware engineers. You will anticipate tool and infrastructure needs, work with multiple organizations, support users, and develop and implement processes to enable successful and rapid development of innovative hardware products.

In this role you will:

• \tEvaluate new features and functions that are made available within existing or potential ECAD tools to judge their potential benefits.

• \tBe the primary point of technical contact with ECAD tool vendor to support and influence their roadmaps to best meet the needs of the Amazon EE community.

• \tWork with ECAD tool vendors to resolve issues with vendor supplied code, and advocate for enhancements and bug fixes.

• \tEvangelize and drive adoption of ECAD tools though process development and training

• \tDefine best practices though documentation and requirements definition for development of ECAD automation.

• \tDeliver well written business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional design documents, user training documents and implementation documents.

• \tManage and maintain EDA scripts/automations, ECAD application extensions

• \tSupport engineering tools and process automations by collaborating with teams responsible for working with Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and CAD systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

- Experience with the project management of technical projects

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
