Position Summary:

Sovah Martinsville is seeking PRN Emergency Department Tech under the supervision of an RN, to perform basic patient care activities.

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

• High school graduate or GED.

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  
  *Requires ability to read and write legibly and carry out direction promptly and accurately. Must have good organizational skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently. Required Certifications/Licenses:

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Previous phlebotomy and IV certification or equivalent work experience, or successful completion of phlebotomy and IV training provided by the hospital within three months of hire.
• Successful completion of EMT or EMT-Intermediate, currently eligible for CNA licensure, licensed CNA, or previous job experience as an ED Technician.

• One or more years in acute hospital setting or with rescue squad preferred.
