Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, the education specialist will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the education and training needs for clinical and non-clinical staff within the clinics of McLaren Medical Group within role specific scope. Assumes responsibility for orientation and competency validation of clinic staff. Participates in education and training projects. Participates in community activities involving student externships. Plans and conducts activities in support of performance improvement. Serves as a resource to clinic staff in providing excellent customer service and competent care for the patients of MMG.

  • Plans, facilitates, implements and evaluates orientation for new clinic employees.
  • Assesses clinic staff learning needs and collaborates in the development of education curricula including orientation, in-service education and continuing education for clinic staff utilizing adult learning principles in educational offerings to improve quality of service and care.
  • Identifies creative competency verification and continuing education methods, which are cost effective, utilizing risk/benefit analysis skills and stimulate an ongoing learning environment/culture.
  • Coordinates student externship rotations with clinic leadership and approved education programs.
  • Documents and maintains records of continuing education activities, both program and participant requirements, in assigned region, as well as employee orientation and competency validation to meet the requirements of MMG and regulatory agencies.


Required:

Clinical

  • Associates Degree in Education, healthcare, or equivalent combination of high school diploma and 2 years' experience in the ambulatory environment as a medical assistant, healthcare preceptor, instructor or licensed practical nurse.
  • Valid state drivers' license in order to travel throughout assigned MMG regions.


Non-Clinical

  • Associates Degree in Education, healthcare, or equivalent combination of high school diploma and 2 years' experience in the ambulatory environment as a patient access representative, receptionist, clerk, coordinator, preceptor, instructor.
  • Valid state drivers' license in order to travel throughout assigned MMG regions.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Previous lead experience.
  • American Red Cross BLS certification.
