Job Description:

This Education/Training Specialist III (Workforce Development Manager) position works in the University of Florida (UF) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering's Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI).

As a member of the FSI professional staff, the Workforce Development Manager is responsible for everyday coordination and execution of workforce development programs targeting statewide economic impact via programs at K-12 districts, career/technical colleges, state college, and universities. The incumbent is responsible for program assessment and evaluation, collaborates with FSI faculty and staff on program development and design, assesses student/trainee needs in consultation with the semiconductor industry and other stakeholders, and develops specific programming to meet those needs.

Responsible for the following broad activities:
• Develop and implement programs to educate and train individuals for careers in the semiconductor industry.
• Manage and supervise other education/training specialists, and other related staff.
• Increase exposure and expand career pathways to semiconductor and related career-fields in the K-12 system.
• Collaborate with academic departments, industry partners and various state/local govt. agencies to ensure curriculum alignment with industry needs.
• Identify opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential learning opportunities to enhance the workforce pipeline.
• Lead efforts to coordinate Florida's semiconductor ecosystem, fostering collaboration between labs, research institutions, and manufacturing facilities.
• Build strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and community organizations to enhance workforce development, innovation, and economic growth in the semiconductor sector.
• Connect businesses with potential funding opportunities for new semiconductor initiatives.
• Work closely with industry partners to identify hiring needs and opportunities for job creation.
• Identify and address barriers to growth within the semiconductor ecosystem.
• Maintains knowledge of current practices and trends in the training/learning/development field and networks with other leaders in the field or across the organization.
• Participates actively in professional organizations or conferences.
• Research new methods, evaluates relevance to the organization, and proposes utilization when appropriate.
• Serves as the lead on new initiatives or as coordinator for large training and development programs.
• Supervises other professionals or support staff.

Responsible for overseeing and executing the design and delivery or workforce development programs that target students/trainees at K-12 schools, career/technical colleges, state colleges, and university partners.

Responsible for identifying goals, and implementing and analyzing assessments for program evaluation and continual process improvement. Programs will be designed in consultation and collaboration with FSI stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes are identified and programs address those needs. Track activities and outcomes, assemble regular reports, and present to stakeholders. Support planning and presentation of goals, objectives, and metrics for activities in upcoming years. Liaise with program supporters regularly.

Work with supervisor, FSI marketing staff, and other appropriate faculty and staff to design and deliver mutually beneficial marketing and communication products, including (as examples) researching, writing, editing, designing, proofreading and distributing content for digital and print media (e.g., publications, newsletters, booklets, brochures, posters, presentations, flyers, etc.) that may be distributed to students, families/parents, school administrators/counselors, industry, and other stakeholders.

Represent FSI in engagement with private, academic, and public sector stakeholders involved in workforce development including (but not limited to) government agencies, companies, investors, citizen groups, workforce development boards, school districts, and academic institutions (when appropriate).

Perform other duties (as assigned).

Expected Salary:

$60,000-$70,000; commensurate with qualifications & experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area.

Six years of direct experience in workforce development, economic development, or related field.

Demonstrated success in building and managing partnerships with industry, academia, and government entities.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.

Proven ability to set and achieve ambitious goals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
