Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager directs the development, implementation, and maintenance of an environmental health and safety management program. This position provides the leadership and expertise to obtain company-wide excellence in environmental health and safety and ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State and local regulations. This position is also responsible for the development, design, implementation, and monitoring of all SKF policies and procedures, and the ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 program requirements. The EHS Manager develops organizational policies relevant to the facility. The position does have 1 direct report.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective EHS strategies and management systems.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Facilitate incident investigation activities, including injury management, investigations, and associated recordkeeping.
  • Identify, implement, and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain injury records in accordance with government regulations and corporate practices.
  • Perform hazard assessments and other EHS evaluations, including employee monitoring.
  • Survey, compile, and analyzes data relating to risks.
  • Assess risk and makes recommendations to control hazards.
  • Work with corporate staff and site personnel to insure risk management.
  • Serve as the point of contact for local and federal agencies.
  • Secure, revise, and/or maintain applicable environmental and hazardous materials permits.
  • Chair the EHS Committee fostering employee involvement in EHS activities.
  • Identify and address site EHS issues and employee concerns via the Committees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain employee training programs for topics related to health, safety, and the environment.
  • Responsible for developing appropriate emergency plans and response capabilities.
  • Respond to emergencies during off-hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Stay abreast of new government regulations as they are promulgated, as well as new developments in industry (best practices).
  • Build relationships with key managers and employees.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, corporate standards, and guidelines, etc.
  • Assess EHS aspects of proposed plans, projects, and equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness.
  • Make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure accident / incident investigations are conducted to determine their causes and take appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with Regulatory Agency Personnel (EPA, OSHA, DOT, federal, state and local agencies) and various outside auditors.
  • Maintain contractor management from an EHS perspective.
  • Responsible for local implementation of organizational led initiatives. (ie. Ergonomics, hand safety, etc.)


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in health & safety, Environmental Science, its equivalent or a related field.
  • Requires a minimum of three to five years of experience in health and safety or related field.
  • Knowledgeable of ISO -14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001.
  • Knowledgeable of EHS regulatory standards and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in incident investigations including root cause, CAPAs and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Available to respond to emergencies during off-hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Some domestic travel may be required.
  • Ability to multi-task and the ability to manage shifting priorities and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong planning, organizational, group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of employees and organizational functions.
  • Knowledgeable about improving energy efficiency is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable about workers' compensation is a plus.
