KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate existing certifications and plan, develop, implement certification programs.
- Daily updates to warehouse safety and KPI boards.
- Conduct daily Safety audits to establish practices that require attention and suggest corrective actions.
- Reviews and analyzes workplace hazards and provides recommendations to reduce or eliminate hazards.
- Researches, develops and implements safety and incident prevention policies in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Identifies needs and advises management on the development and implementation of effective programs and activities.
- Conduct self-Rack audits and GEMBA walks in addition to leading groups.
- Mentor and lead safety committee and members.
- Suspend unsafe activities until alternative solutions have been developed, tested and implemented.
- Conducts post-incident investigation and/or assessments.
- Suspend activities or the use of dangerous materials until alternative solutions have been developed, tested and implemented.
- Conduct educational trainings to instruct employees on proper safety activities and equipment usage.
- Recommends corrective or preventative measures regarding safety matters.
- Gathers and communicates pertinent safety information.
- Conducts training needs analysis with management and/or safety teams.
- Develop and practice an emergency preparedness plan.
- Maintain ongoing record keeping of safety trainings, attendance logs, material, etc.
- Represent company in community and industry safety groups, programs and conferences.
- Keeps abreast of current developments of training, safety and incident prevention programs.
- Works with minimum supervision and exercises sufficient discretion and independent judgment.
- Serve as the company referent for interactions with regulatory agencies regarding environmental permits, inspections, and compliance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational or industrial safety or a related field. Progress toward, or completion of, industry recognized professional designations (i.e., CSP, ASP, GSP, ARM, PE) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience, which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities required.
- Well versed in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to proactively identify risk factors at employer locations and communicate risk concerns effectively to appropriate parties.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective written communications skills for a variety of audiences using various formats.
- Effective presentation skills in a variety of settings.
- Ability to effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, and present ideas, report facts and other information, and respond to questions as appropriate.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions regarding safety practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.
- Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position with the ability to produce necessary reports for analysis.
- Ability to prepare and delivery training sessions for employees
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
