Purpose Statement

The PLC Controls Technician maintains equipment to all specifications relating to electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and troubleshooting in a team operation.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Support with technical knowledge growth of all techs.
  • Support techs by troubleshooting PLC/electrical issues for both facilities.
  • Improve individual knowledge and skills of techs through documented training.

Weekly updates on current projects sent to TL's, Dayshift Plant Programmers, and Maintenance Manager

Communicate and work with Plant Programmers from dayshift.

Involvement in new projects/equipment if applicable from
  • Something as simple as creating electrical diagrams for all cabinets, adding labels to cabinets, cleaning up cabinets, or keeping electrical components up to date/ replacing obsolete components.
  • Drive innovation at RPC with your own ideas.
  • Present thoughts, concerns, ideas for new equipment during design stage of upcoming projects.
  • Confirming RPC standard electrical components i.e., Allen Bradley, current plant disconnects, safeties, etc.
  • Understanding of equipment operation from an automation standpoint and willingness to support during startup, share knowledge/train during handover to production.
  • Leverage safety among new installations and refurbishments.

Monthly Plant Audits
  • Be a driver of proactive repairs by looking for exposed wires, bad HMI screens, electrical components that are not in base condition.

Associate may be asked from time to time to complete tasks not listed within the contents of this document, but that are relative to the goals of the business.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum of 2 years of controls experience. Allen Bradley preferred.

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or minimum one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient in using Microsoft applications.

Demonstrated knowledge of PLC connection and programming

Ability to train other associates.

Ability to use and troubleshoot using a multi-meter.

Ability to use AutoCAD to update and create electrical prints is preferred.

A general understanding of all electrical hardware and software.
