Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform as project manager, and/or technical specialist on transportation engineering projects, responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
  • Perform Electrical/Lighting Design in support of a variety of projects including: renewable energy systems, parks, roadways, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), transportation facilities, site development projects, and electrical infrastructure design.
  • Serve as a technical specialist and consultant to the electrical engineering discipline on transportation-related projects.
  • Prepare reports and develop planning documents.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand client's needs.
  • Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project's purpose and the client's needs.
  • Evaluate technical product documentation for incorporating requirements into design documents.
  • Produce detailed, high-quality final design reports, plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
  • Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents.
  • Actively identify project pursuit opportunities, manage client relationships, develop new clients, and assist in the preparation of proposals to win those pursuits.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Professional Engineer registered in the State of Louisiana or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience in conceptual lighting design and final plan development for interstates, roadways and area lighting using software tools such as Visual and AGI32
  • Proficient in lighting design, energy code compliance, lighting/power circuiting design, renewable energy, emergency power systems, communications systems, fire alarm systems, or ITS
  • Experience with voltage drop calculations, conduit fill calculations and design of power distribution systems.
  • Ability to lead one or more design teams through all phases of project production.
  • Ability to perform and/or oversee the preparation of ITS design plans, traffic signal design plans, and systems engineering analysis documents.
  • Thorough knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards i.e. NEC, NFPA and IEEE codes of power system design.
  • Proficient in planning and report preparation
  • Recent experience planning and developing ITS projects is desired.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or higher Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in the field of Electrical Engineering with preference given to transportation experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
