Role Summary:

This position is a local EV high voltage battery system specialist that will develop and execute the performance and reliability test on component level (battery system) to support the electric vehicles for the NAR to ensure market requirements are met. Has close linkage with counterpart in Germany to ensure the correct test method be implemented locally and evaluate the test result in spot to ensure the quality of the test report for the component level release according to VW standard. This position will also operate lab equipment and test benches, most importantly, an operator for the VWGoA e-MAST. A multi axis simulation table with climate and electric cycling capabilities. Engineer will be responsible for Sequence Test Group that combine mechanical, electrical, and chemical tests for battery validation and release.

Role Responsibilities:

Test Engineer of Mechanical and Electrical Sequence release validation (70%)

• Understand the high voltage battery system from technical perspective and relevant VW design and test standards both internal and external

• Operate eMAST and other test benches as needed for internal and external partners

• Execute the HV Battery system test plan at the in-house facility or ensure the test execution by external supplier, support the failure analysis accordingly and ensure the quality of the final testing report

• Execute failure analysis and write report on findings from test series

Test equipment management and high voltage battery test (30%)

• Manage the test equipment and instruments as assigned

• Communicate and manage the external testing resource if necessary

• Troubleshoot test bench issues and maintain vendor relationships for project success

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience with electrical vehicle high voltage battery system testing and evaluation, or the relevant experience in HV on board systems validation and testing.

Education - Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Education - Desired:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering

Skills:
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Computer savvy - skilled in the use of software, for example Microsoft office etc.
  • Integration - joining people, processes or systems
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Resource management
  • German skills written and verbal are advantageous

Specialized Skills - Required:
  • Test experience with electrical vehicle HV batteries system and high voltage components
  • Technical understanding of current and future electrical vehicle high voltage battery system
  • Test equipment/bench development, setup and programming skill
  • Experience of working in a test lab environment for 1-3 years

Specialized Skills - Desired:
  • German skills written and verbal are advantageous
  • Vibration, Mech. Shock, MAST experience
  • 3-5 years of knowledge of HV Battery system
  • Understands vehicle communication networks (CAN) and be able to capture the relevant data on the bus

Work Flexibility:
  • Frequently traveling to the suppliers , ext. lab and the R&D department in Germany
  • Increased extended travel to Germany based on the EV project needs
  • Be able to work under the relative high voltage environment(
