About this role

The Electrical Graduate Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical systems and equipment in a mining operation. This role involves ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical infrastructure, supporting production needs, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with other departments to implement and maintain electrical systems that meet the operational requirements of the mine.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to- day will look like
  • Electrical System Design: Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and controls for mining equipment and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee the maintenance of electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, motor control centers, switchgear, and automation systems. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Project Management: Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of electrical systems and processes. Implement changes to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical designs, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering teams to support production goals and address electrical issues. Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel.
  • Technology Integration: Stay updated on the latest technologies and innovations in electrical engineering and apply them to enhance mining operations.


Your Training, Skills & Experience checklist

Here is what we need to see from you
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP) and strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and best practices. Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Safety-Oriented: A strong commitment to safety, with experience in conducting safety audits and ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.


Working Conditions & Location

  • Environment: This role involves working in both office and field environments, including outdoor work at mine sites with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Location: The Cripple Creek & Victor (CC&V) Mine site is located at elevations ranging from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level.
  • Physical Demands: The role may require walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, and working at heights or in confined spaces.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $71,600- 85,025. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
