GENERAL SUMMARY
\n
The Maintenance Mechanic performs skilled mechanical and utilities maintenance duties for the Airport Authority in the maintenance and repair of electrical and utility systems and equipment.
\n
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
\n
    \n
  • \n
    Checks operation, performs preventative maintenance, and assists with repairs for:
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    Emergency power generators, automatic transfer switches, generator paralleling switchgear and distribution system
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    Electrical switchgear, transformers, buss duct, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains:
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    3 Phase; 4,160 volts, 480/277 volt and 208/120 electrical systems.
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    A variety of pumps, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    All lighting throughout RDUAA campus. Including fluorescent and HID using ladders and aerial lifts
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    Checks operation. performs preventive maintenance, and repairs to automatic sliding door systems and UPS systems
    \n
  • \n
  • \n
    Performs additional related work as required
    \n

QUALIFICATIONS
\n
Education:
\n
Required:
\n
    \n
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • \n
\n
Preferred:
\n
    \n
  • Associate Degree or Apprentice Program
  • \n
\n
Experience:
\n
Required:
\n
    \n
  • 2 years of experience in the electrical trade
  • \n
\n
Preferred:
\n
    \n
  • 4 years of experience in the electrical trade
  • \n
\n
Licenses or Certifications:
\n
Required:
\n
    \n
  • Valid NC Driver's License
  • \n
  • CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
  • \n
\n

  • NC Registered Journeyman's Certificate

  • The operation of various types of aerial lifts including work at heights up to 60 feet

  • Working knowledge and experience of mechanical and utilities systems

  • Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping
