We have an opening for Propulsion Engineer, in Salt Lake City, UT. As an Electrical Propulsion Engineer I/II, you will be a viable member of a team focused on building high-quality, state-of-the-art passenger trains.
This position offers:
Enjoy receiving direct mentorship, training and supervision from an industry expert
Conceptual design and layout of the electrical drive systems in passenger rail vehicles (power electronics, transformer, motor, energy storage, pantograph)
Integration of these components into our vehicles
Technical coordination with other disciplines (software creation, installation planning, mechanical engineering, purchasing, etc.)
Cooperation with customers and suppliers
Calculations and simulations regarding energy consumption and trip duration of our vehicles
Support during the initial commissioning phase of the vehicles
Support of type tests (e.g. creation of type test specifications)
Support and analysis of technical problems during operation
Qualifications
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar
0 - 3 years (level one) or 3 - 5 years (level two) of relevant experience in railway, defense, or similar
Knowledge of, or interest in electrical drive technology or the rail vehicle industry
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong teamwork skills
Business fluent in English (German preferred)
Experience in electrical / mechanical design
Experience with schematic software, MS Office, PLM and ECN systems (e.g. E3, SmarTeam)
Experience with MATLAB is a plus
Willingness to travel for supplier visits and testing on vehicles
