Duties and Responsibilities:
Proactively direct electrical personnel & operations of electrical delivery systems including:
Responsible for electrical side maintenance and operation of domestic & hydronic heating hot water heaters. (disconnect switches, Variable Frequency Drives).
Responsible for all electrical, fire alarm and fire suppression control systems.
Review all plans and specifications for new or replacement electrical, fire alarm and fire suppression systems for completeness, accuracy, compatibility with existing infrastructure and quality including operational performance.
Promote development and implementation of energy conservation measures thru collaboration with peers, faculty, students, administrators and staff.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned including professional development activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and technical training in Electrical Generation and Distribution and an Electrician License required.
10 years relevant experience in electrical infrastructure and distribution systems and 5 years in a supervisory position required.
Specific Job Knowledge:
* 15 years journeyman's experience in Electrical Operations and Electrical systems preferred. *

- Monitors & controls electrical power distribution system efficiencies.
- Responsible for all electrical building equipment.
- Directs the activities of a skilled work force.
- Generate 5-year electrical systems capital renewal program including budget cost.
- Develops an accountable, productive, and safe work force through mentoring and training programs.
- Develops programs necessary for the improvement of all maintenance operations and develop training programs for electrical personnel.
- Motivate employees by routine performance evaluations, counseling, and discipline when necessary
- Effectively communicate and coordinate shutdowns to minimize effects on users.
- Maintains documentation of maintenance activities.
- Determine solutions to interruptions in service of utilities when they occur.
- Prioritize and schedule all preventive maintenance work.
- Experience referencing and using electrical safety standards - NEC and NFPA 70-E.
- Collects and maintains documentation of electrical usage.
- Verify utility bills - monthly.
- Prepare budgets for electrical usage.
- Maintains Title V Air Emission Permit required documentation. Coordinates with independent consultants to generate associated reports.
- Monitors & reports run times on emergency generators.
- Collaborates with the University's Environmental Health and Safety department, especially in the preparation of permit submittals.
- Meet with state and insurance carrier inspectors for annual inspections and properly remediate as necessary to achieve compliance.

- Ability to diagnose and trouble shoots problems in electrical distribution systems.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local Codes.

- Electronic circuitry and control systems.
- Electrical Systems, 13.2 KV,480/277, 208/120 volt Single and Three Phase.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to operate independently under general directions.
- Self-starter with the ability to make decisions.
- Computer knowledge of Windows, database systems, Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of TMA work order system and Kronos time keeper system a plus.
- Availability to work long hours on demand as needed.
- Ability to occasionally work an on-call schedule.
- Ability to periodically work overnight for electrical shut-downs
- Operative knowledge of all electrical generation and distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of all tools and equipment of the trades.
* 15 years journeyman's experience in Electrical Operations and Electrical systems preferred. *
