POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT) is an Air Force Test and Evaluation facility for testing aircraft and weapon systems. The engineering function performs a variety of research, design, and development of unique electronic and optical solutions to meet specialized project requirements. Testing support includes video and data collection for aircraft egress, impacts, penetration, hypersonic, rain erosion, and dispense testing. Develop and test unique solutions during the test and evaluation process. The position supports high-speed video optical recording of test events, analysis of the event to determine speed and time-space-position (TSP) data of dispensed and aircraft egressed test items. Design solutions to collect optical data from fixed and tracking mount cameras, timing systems, trigger systems, and maintenance processes. This position requires the ability to work indoors and outdoors as well as in inclement weather conditions. Potential lifting of equipment ranging up to 50 pounds, climbing, working in high areas, and close quarters should be expected. Duties may include occasional oversight of technicians, maintenance activities, and procurement of materials when the site supervisor is not available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a computer/digital background. Must have a good understanding and experience with digitally controlled hardware. Must have a strong mathematical background for developing new optical data collection techniques along with the analysis used to reduce dynamic position information from test vehicles. Needs to have a working knowledge of computers, computer networks, and Microsoft Office Suite applications. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have a valid state driver's license. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and hold a security clearance for access to classified information. Position may require some early report times, extended hours, weekends, and TDY assignments.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of video editing and compression techniques. Knowledge of optics and optical instrumentation, and high-speed photography systems. These include cameras, lenses, hydraulic systems, and tracking systems. Programming experience in C, Fortran, Pascal, Basic, and machine assembler languages. Knowledge in applying mathematical calculations for the purpose of achieving results in optical solutions is desired.
