7:00 am to 3:30 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Mandatory Position

This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades). The position is considered to be a contributing technician in the Electrical trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be allowed to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned zones.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job Duties
Entry-level Electrician to undertake a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure. Your job can involve installing electrical wiring in buildings and poles, bending, cutting, and threading various types of conduits, and troubleshooting malfunctions under supervision or instruction.
Other Work Responsibilities
1. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repair of standard electrical equipment.
2. Work with supervision or instruction, and is expected to complete work with a high level of competence and professionalism in compliance with generally accepted trade practices.
3. Assist during inclement weather with clearing and cleaning of streets, sidewalks, steps, building entrances, and other areas of obstruction of snow/debris, ice, water etc, as a Mandatory Employee.
4. Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
5. Maintain records of routine maintenance and repairs
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of electrical experience preferred.
  • NFPA 72 Electrical Safety Training
  • OSHA 10 hr. safety training
  • First Aid and CPR trained.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required
  • Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • A valid driver's license is required. Operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position.
  • Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
