As a Hospital Maintenance Electrician in UAB Facilities, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within the healthcare facility, all while demonstrating a dedication to providing excellent customer service.. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Electrical Maintenance:
    • Maintains electrical equipment following standard procedures, diagrams, and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Performs routine electrical maintenance tasks, including replacing fuses, fluorescent ballasts, tubes, and repairing extension cords.
    • Maintains accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for compliance purposes.

Maintenance:

• Performs maintenance tasks such as altering and repairing machines, equipment, and facilities.

• Maintains and repairs plumbing systems, including steam, gas, water, air, and sanitary pipes and fixtures.

• Conducts welding, pipe bending, cutting, reaming, and threading.

• Services and repairs HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including fans, motors, radiators, pumps, thermostats, and regulating controls.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adheres to all organizational guidelines, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and regulatory agency mandates, including OSHA, EPA, ADEM, and The Joint Commission.
    • Participates in monthly safety meetings and other required trainings.
    • Prioritizes safety protocols to minimize risks associated with electrical work and promotes a culture of safety within the hospital.


Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Incomplete job profiles will not be processed. Please be certain to showcase depth and breadth of experience, as related to the needs of this job announcement.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

Journeyman Electrician Registration with the City of Birmingham required prior to employment

NICET FAS II, preferably

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

• Must be able to maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy the customer's perceived needs.

• Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require performing tasks requiring wearing respirator and other personal protective equipment, such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), to include:

o Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

o Climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, and working at heights above thirty (30) feet.

o Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.

o Working in a healthcare environment

o Working in confined spaces.

o Working within extreme temperature ranges.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.80 - $28.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications), plus incentives for current Electrician Master Card and NICET FAS II certifications upon hire.

Work Schedule: Multiple shifts available. Incumbent must have flexibility due to on-call requirements. Position is designated as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, regardless of the University's closure. Employees should be prepared to travel to work during inclement weather, emphasizing the importance of their role in critical situations.
