JOB PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager I; plans, coordinates, and administers the facilities electrical maintenance and repair program for the buildings/areas assigned. Responsibilities include assistance in program development, trouble shooting and repair of electronic/electrical components or systems, assisting other trades in use and repair of electrical components or systems. Assists the Electronics Skilled Trades worker as needed. Performs skilled work in the installation, construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements the daily and emergency, maintenance and repair programs for the electrical equipment and systems for the Department.

Serves as a resource in this area for management or other employees as needed.

May provide training to other employees as needed.

Remains abreast of new techniques, procedures, and equipment in the electrical field, recommends procurement and replacement as needed.

Prepares and submits to his supervisor all administrative reports or documents required as it pertains to Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Overtime, & Employee leave usage.

Develops, schedules, and implements an electrical preventative maintenance program for all critical departmental equipment or systems.

Ensures compliance with electrical building and safety codes.

Provides for, or assists with, general electrical renovation projects for the department.

Assists with the selection and installation of new equipment and/or systems.

Responds to emergency maintenance and repair calls, ensures work is promptly and properly performed.

May review the work of others.

To the extent possible provides for generator repair.

Provides assistance for the electronic position, ensure proper function of CCTV equipment.

Coordinates Electrical/Electronic special projects.

Performs other related job duties as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis. Employee must have and maintain a valid Electrical License.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated ability to use all tools, equipment and materials associated with general building maintenance and repairs.

Thorough knowledge of electrical systems/components, and their trouble shooting procedures.

Must be able to follow instruction, instruct others, direct and work with others.

Employee must have and maintain valid driver's license.

Employee must have and maintain a valid electrician's license/certification.

Working knowledge of basic arithmetic and units of measure.

Ability to interpret and work from sketches.

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs un-assisted.

Receives general supervision from the Facilities Maintenance Manager I.

Employee must possess sufficient knowledge to make on-the-spot, independent judgements regarding electrical/electronic components and systems.

Employee will work independently and with others as needed.

Employee will provide direction related to electrical systems as needed.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youths within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. The employee may have direct and direct contact with youths within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

AGENCY PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma and three years trades experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems, or high school diploma and three years' experience directly related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year for year basis.
