Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company, is seeking an Electro/Mechanical Design & Packaging Engineer to join our team in Orlando, FL.

Types of systems you may work with include, but are not limited to, interconnect cabling and harnessing for complex missile systems, flight electronics boxes and associated printed wire boards, and electrical ground support / test equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain electro-mechanical designs for high reliability flight electronics boxes packaging circuit card assemblies (CCAs), internal harnesses, and thermal heat sinks in card mount frames or mounting discrete CCAs within a ruggedized housing. This requires interface with electrical engineers and mechanical engineers to ensure that the design sustains all operational flight environments and flight phases. Printed Wire Board (PWB) design / Gerber data review typically required.

  • Use knowledge of cable and harness schematics and physical hardware to develop production drawings and bill of materials for various flight and non-flight equipment including cable installation drawings depicting the physical route of the cable on the supporting structure. This includes design for manufacturing assessments of accessibility for cable routing and general manufacturability of the design. Preparation of deliverable drawings is generally per ASME Y14.100. Team environment includes peer review of others work products inclusive of schematic drawings.

  • Generate electro-mechanical assembly drawings for specialized test equipment including break out boxes, active test sets, and related test equipment for component and system level testing. This includes the mechanical integration of electrical components using AMSE Y14.5 in preparation of mechanical details of the design. This effort includes consideration for MIL-STD-1472 human factors as guidance for designs including legends and operational feedback to the user / operator. This often requires interface with: (a) thermal analysts to ensure thermal constraints are met and (b) users / operators to ensure that stakeholder feedback is incorporated into the design.

  • Support procurement, manufacture and integration of the hardware. Work with procurement to resolve supply chain availability issues. Support the manufacturing engineering team and production staff in resolving build issues and concerns with the hardware. Support integration through engineering inspection of the fabricated missile sections and review of the cable installations on the all up vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with PWB design for high density designs

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Creo Parametric with Cabling and Harness / Manufacturing
  • Experience resolving production and non conformance related issues
