About the Opportunity

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Manager will manage and oversee all aspects of the design, development,

implementation, security, and maintenance of the Electronic Health Record system for the School of Dentistry.

The EHR Manager is expected to strategically analyze and develop processes and procedures from implementation

to ongoing system usage. This includes, but is not limited to, billing, workflows, dental procedures, form usage, quality

assurance, outcomes evaluation, report generation, and research data extraction in the clinical areas. This person will

play a critical role as the liaison between the Information Technology, clinical operations, and vendor representatives to

ensure complete integration. This position requires advanced knowledge of IT operations and data management and will

be expected to quickly develop knowledge of the EHR and clinical systems and operations. This position will serve as the

School of Dentistry's expert on the specific needs and requirements of the EHR system and is expected to project thi

expertise using clear and concise oral and written communication skills.

What You'll Do

  • Provide senior level analysis and leadership for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the axiUm EHR system for the school. As such, this person will understand and identify the user's procedures and needs and will be responsible for integrating these processes. In addition, this person will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement, assessing the work needed, and either completing the task(s) or coordinating the resources to ensure that the improvements are implemented accordingly in the EHR system.
  • Serve as the liaison between Information Technology, clinical operations, and vendor representatives and provide support to the clinical faculty, staff, students, and residents in clinical application review, selection, implementation, enhancement and development of the EHR.
  • Provide senior level technical engineering and system support for the EHR application and will be responsible for overseeing the IT function of the EHR, ensuring that processes are integrated appropriately.
  • Stay up to date with technology as it relates to an EHR in dental care and dental education and identify the capabilities of current and future-generation EHRs.
  • Review national policies and legislation as it related to EHRs, follow research trends in biomedical informatics, and review new products and technological advancements.
  • Build collaborative relationships with members of other dental schools, attend all relevant local and national meetings, and establish relationships with peers in other US dental schools.
  • Work closely with analysts, architects, and all other relevant parties to identify technology training needs among HER users (students, residents, faculty, and staff).
  • Responsible for developing College-wide, function-based, comprehensive training materials (oral presentations, videos, written documentation) for clinical faculty, staff, students, and residents specific to each clinical area
  • Develop organized documentation for installation, upgrade, and configuration.
  • Review and implement EHR security procedures.
  • Assist and train faculty, residents, students and staff with clinical application operations and procedures.
  • Manage user and roles in EHR systems.
  • Develop and modify evaluations.
  • Develop and run reports using the EHR reporting tools.
  • Coordinate the development of custom Crystal Reports.
  • Coordinate with school administrators to decide which enhancements should be implemented.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience performing analysis of business and user needs and delivering system solutions directly to end users.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered; with preference for a degree in computer science, computer engineering or management information systems or related field.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with needs prioritization, project management, and data reporting
  • SQL querying and reporting
  • Crystal Reports or similar reporting tool
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technology training programs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Axium software and or MiPacs software a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and processes is a plus.
