THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is for an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, Position Description Number D0872P01 located in the Army Aviation Support Facility #2, located on Dobbins ARB, Georgia.

This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership.

Duties

As an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, you will:

Perform operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems. Complete operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units (LRU). Isolate unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Solve problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjust and align sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Remove faulty LRUs for shop repair. Install serviceable components into aircraft and perform total systems alignments in accordance with existing technical manuals and directives. Accomplish technical manual compliance and modification of components and systems and completes systems checkout for proper operation. Maintain, modify, calibrate and inspect a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Complete bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Use a variety of test equipment such as automatic test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, DTA computer, multi-meters, power-meters, and special purpose bench test sets. Test and troubleshoot solid state electronic assemblies and subassemblies such as circuit cards, modules, rate gyros, electronic control amplifiers, electro-mechanical assemblies, random access memories, programmable read-only memories and various integrated circuits. Identifies faulty parts and repairs to level authorized. Ensure and certify operational integrity of various night vision systems, and electro-optical components. Reassemble unit after repair, perform alignment and make shop checks.

Recommend methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assist in design changes as necessary. Conduct debriefing of aircrews to determine the nature of system malfunctions, then document all maintenance performed and record information related to the system, LRU's, or shop repairable units on both aircraft and historical records.

When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serve as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements.

Guide lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Conduct on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Process and account for due-in supply assets. Ensure that material and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained and that funds are not obligated for material or parts without proper justification.

Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Comply with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

General Experience: Candidate must possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies; thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory; ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Specialized Experience: Candidate must possess experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment; experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems equipment; experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE); experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

Physical Effort: Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. May be required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.

Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, the incumbent is exposed to bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to irritations or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on parts and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and sprains while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Often exposed to the possibility of falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment; and skin irritations from acid, fluids, and lubricants. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing, which may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods.
