Job Duties

Position supports the Department of Corrections' (VADOC) mission, goals and objectives through the installation, repair and maintenance of electronic systems/equipment in an adult correctional facility. Position performs testing, preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain the integrity of the existing structures and furnishings in accordance with all federal, state and local codes. Maintains inventory through planning and purchasing, and responds to work requests in a timely manner in a Total Maintenance System (TMS). Supervises inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis. May assist in other areas of Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, carpentry, plumbing, or outside maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Considerable experience in electronics and CCTV troubleshooting. Knowledge of tele-communication equipment and functionality.

Additional Considerations

Correctional experience. Knowledge of perimeter security and public address systems. Working knowledge of electronics theory including troubleshooting, calibration, test procedures, and circuit analysis. Knowledge of computers and peripheral equipment. Ability to fabricate, modify and perform component level repair on a diversity of electronic instruments. Ability to read and understand schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flow charts, truth tables and service manuals. Knowledge in two-way radio systems.
