Job Title: Middle School EC Teacher

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, a commitment to meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities, and the ability to provide personalized support and instruction. As an EC Teacher at our charter school, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, collaborating with colleagues, and fostering a culture of inclusion and acceptance.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents/guardians, school administrators, and support staff.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in both inclusive and pull-out settings, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students' individual learning styles, strengths, and challenges.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional materials, assistive technologies, and interventions to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instruction and support services accordingly, maintaining accurate records of student performance and growth.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, goals, and needs, facilitating partnerships between home and school.
  • Stay current on best practices in special education, relevant laws and regulations, and evidence-based interventions through professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement and the overall mission of the charter school.


Essential Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices in assessment, instruction, and intervention.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in North Carolina is preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience preferably in a charter school or diverse educational setting.
