JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide a learning environment that allows students to succeed academically in accordance with system core values, goals and objectives. Implement an effective educational program for the assigned grade level and subject area(s) using the required course of study, appropriate resources and materials, and research-based instructional practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
  • Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
  • Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English as required.
  • Select, develop, modify and/or adapt materials and resources which support learning objectives and address students' varying learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Establish routines and uses appropriate behavior management procedures.
  • Participate in administration of local and state testing as assigned.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Communicate high learning expectations for all students and establishes learning targets that are relative to real world experiences.
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies to enhance the application of critical, creative and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others through role modeling and learning activities.
  • Supervise and/or assist with extracurricular and co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Support school improvement initiatives through active participation in school activities, events, and programs.
  • Engage in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding /student/school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and submit required reports, records, and correspondence accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
  • Report absences and take leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures; prepares for substitutes according to Board policies and school procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
  • Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements.
