Your role:

As an Elevator Operator, you will be responsible for unloading wheat trucks and rail cars, run tests on wheat, process appropriate paperwork, learning the basics of flour milling, and cross-train in at one or more work stations in the business. Your responsibilities:
  • Perform department and plant sanitation duties as assigned or as needed.
  • Unload wheat truck and rail cars as available, correctly bin wheat according to schedule set by the lab, run testing on all loads, and transfer or mix wheat basis capacity needs.
  • Be trained to fill in loading and sealing of Feed, both truck and rail as needed throughout the week.
  • Must know and comply with all Plant Safety and HACCP/Food Safety requirements, procedures, and vessel inspections.
  • Must be willing to be trained to "STEP-UP" into the Wheat Mixing Position when needed (1st choice for filling in for vacancies, sickness, meetings)
  • Be trained in and performance of Plant Preventive Maintenance (PM)
  • Be trained and certified in forklift, scissor lift, track mobile, skid loader and railcar movement.
  • Must be a self-starter and work as a team player including working outside in inclement weather.
  • Be available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Must have a general knowledge of operation of a computer including sending and receiving emails and spreadsheet (Excel functions).
  • Ability to learn additional software applications is required.
  • Assist in operations on an as needed basis as directed by the Production Supervisor.
  • Actively participate in department meetings and facility teams relating to the improvement of plant safety, quality, innovation and efficiency.
  • Perform any tasks reasonably assigned.

Essential skills and experience:
  • HS Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience required.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
  • Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbally.

Good to have:
  • At least one year operating mobile equipment including forklift, bobcat or Track Mobile.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):
  • Willing and able to work in a plant environment that at times, may be dusty, include temperature extremes, involve climbing, heavy lifting, and other forms of physical exertion.
  • Willing and able to work with wheat products, dust, i.e. no wheat /gluten sensitivity, intolerance and/or allergies.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in a dusty environment and wear respiratory protection.
  • Able to climb stairs through the work day.
  • Able to stand through the entire work day.

Other considerations:
  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Must be willing and able to work 8-Hour shifts, weekends and Holidays.
  • Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
