Embedded Software Engineer (Clearable)

A client of Insight Globals is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join their team supporting a program operating out of Eglin AFB in FL. This individual should either have an active Secret Clearance or be willing and able to obtain one. In this role, the Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer will be responsible for creating, implementing, and testing firmware solutions for high-speed FPGAs and their accompanying circuitry on a daily basis. They will collaborate with design teams to provide additional support in circuit and PC board design, ensuring seamless integration of firmware solutions into the overall system architecture. Daily tasks will involve contributing to the design and development of embedded processors, microcontrollers, and System on Chip (SoC) designs to meet project requirements effectively. The engineer will conduct technical trade studies regularly to explore and evaluate technology improvements, ensuring the firmware solutions are cutting-edge and meet performance standards. On a day-to-day basis, the engineer will focus on implementing and refining DSP functions, aiming to enhance signal processing capabilities within the FPGA solutions.
Basic Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6+ years with a Master's degree.
- Proficiency in embedded Software/Firmware design.
- Strong skills in C/C++, VHDL, and TCL.
- Experience in FPGA system design from architecture to implementation.
- Familiarity with modern Xilinx FPGA families and design tools.
- Knowledge of high-speed serial communication standards and interfaces.
- Experience with internal interfaces like AXI4, AXI4-Stream, AXI4-Lite.
- Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Hands-on experience in laboratory settings with test equipment.
- US Citizenship and eligibility for a Final Secret Clearance.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related IT field
C/C++ experience specifically within embedded software programming
Strong Embedded firmware experience
High-speed serial communication experience: with standards and interfaces
I.E., Aurora, 10Ge, PCIe, etc.
Experience developing and implementing FPGA-optimized versions of DSP algorithms.
