Mission:

The mission for the Embedded Software Engineer is to develop high quality Embedded-C software for air compressor systems.

This role is responsible for developing software using C-Programming language and integrating the electrical controls systems into compressor products. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different products and programs.

The ideal candidate will need to be a self-driven strong communicator that is passionate about embedded software design and development for industrial applications.

This position is located on-site in Michigan City, Indiana.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software for air compression systems using C, C++ programming language.
  • Design, develop and create commissioning files using Microsoft Excel.
  • Integrate VSDs (variable speed drives), motors, and controls systems to meet application requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Service, and Commercial teams on controls software and electrical related designs and issues.


Education:
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • MUST be U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder due to U.S. Government laws regarding R&D.


Professional or educational experience:
  • Embedded C knowledge or experience (required)
  • Degree desirable in Computer/Electrical engineering with experience in electrical controls requirements, analysis, design, development, integration, and testing.
  • Experience working for a global manufacturer in the compressor or industrial machinery industries or similar is highly desired.
  • Basic electronics knowledge is desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using debugging tools for embedded systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work very effectively within the software team and cross functional teams and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality. Able to successfully manage multiple projects/programs simultaneously when needed.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed to support business needs - anticipate less than 5%.


Outcomes
  • Within the first 60 days develop and display competency in understanding, troubleshooting, and resolving Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) issues.
  • Within the first 90 days develop display competency in writing efficient reliable C code for different models of air compressors.
  • Within the first 180 days display competency in successfully processing the creation and maintenance of Excel commissioning files for different models of air compressors.
