You will contribute to solving some of the most exciting problems in the embedded software space.In this role, you will be a direct contributor toward the safety and user experience of charging Tesla vehicles. You will work on a variety of different aspects of embedded programming: interacting with high and low voltage systems as well as on-board and off-board charging system, designing and developing control systems, defining and implementing user interactions, and creating solutions for standardized charging communications across different regions globally. You will join a team of deeply knowledgeable and passionate engineers that strive to build the most robust and reliable embedded systems using cutting edge software development tools and practices. You will solve some of the most challenging problems in the embedded software space and change the way the world produces electric vehicles and delivers energy. The scope of this system includes small motor control, charging experience user interface design, high voltage safety concepts, electro-mechanical elements exposed to the environment, and communications / interoperability with external chargers with region specific charging standard with different communication media such as CAN, Power-Line-Communication (PLC). Responsibilities
  • Develop, enhance and debug new and existing real-time firmware in C for Charging Interface System
  • Deliver high-quality C code in a safety critical real-time embedded environment
  • Work closely with the hardware, mechanical and control teams to specify hardware actuation and sensing requirements
  • Develop and optimize firmware, along with peripheral drivers and sensor to control door motors and interact with external charging station
  • Specify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems
  • Drive firmware development for performance, scalability, robustness, and tight integration with the hardware
  • Hands-on with hardware bring up, build and enforce component validation for delivering robust, functional code
  • Implement continuous improvements and best practices within the team, and larger organization
  • Collaboration with other engineering groups inside Tesla, including but not limited to hardware, control, system integration, manufacturing and service teams


Requirements
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in real-time embedded software development
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or the equivalent in experience
  • Proficiency in C
  • Strong software fundamentals including firmware architecture, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability
  • Experience with reading electrical schematics and understanding circuit behavior
  • Knowledge of microcontroller peripherals such as timers, ADC, GPIO, PWM, SPI, I2C
  • Familiarity with control loops and PID controllers
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Understanding of physics, basic EE principles, and basic control and validation strategy for highly complex and mission critical embedded systems preferred
  • Understanding of MISRA C/unit test or other code quality standard preferred and familiar with automotive development: GIT, MISRA-C, CAN, UDS and have experience with TI, ST micro or Freescale microcontrollers

      $120,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
