General Information:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Emergency Management team. This internship offers hands-on experience in emergency preparedness, response planning, and coordination. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to support various projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing readiness for emergencies and disasters. This position provides an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Public Administration, Political Science, Intelligence Analysis, Business Management, Sport and Recreation Management or related fields to gain practical experience and develop valuable skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and updating emergency response plans and procedures.
• Participate in tabletop exercises, drills, and simulations to test emergency plans.
• Research best practices and emerging trends in emergency management.
• Provide logistical support during training sessions, workshops, and special events.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners on emergency management initiatives.
• Help maintain documentation and records related to emergency preparedness activities.
• Shadow and learn from experienced emergency management professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Emergency Management team.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Willingness to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
Ability to work independently on multiple projects at a time while reliably meeting deadlines.

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
