Emerging Leaders Program STEM Robotics Full-Time Facilitator

The AmeriCorps STEM Robotics Clubs Facilitator ensures under-resourced youth have access to quality STEM enrichment and develop interests in STEM professions. The clubs meet weekly, 1.5 hours/session, throughout the school year to work through the VEX curriculum, which has been vetted by the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy and aligns with Common Core standards. You will use VEX IQ Robots and Curriculum: Getting Started, Programming the Brain, Robot Movement, Digital Sensors, Analog Sensors, Loops, Discrete Decisions, Capstone: Subterranean Challenge, and Continuous Decisions. At the end of the first 11 weeks, teams showcase their acquired skills and knowledge in a friendly competition. They will also lead the STEM Robotics Competition team as they participate in local/regional tournaments in the fall. Additionally, the AmeriCorps STEM Robotics Clubs Facilitator mentors up to 8 high school seniors (College Preparation and Civic Engagement) students throughout the school year.

Member Duties : Member Duties: As an AmeriCorps member, your role encompasses a wide range of activities. You will plan and conduct after-school Robotics Clubs, administer surveys, maintain inventories, and train volunteers. Additionally, you will mentor high school seniors, assist with youth events, support STEM/Robotics marketing and outreach, and engage community partners. By managing data, tracking expenses, and collaborating with stakeholders, you will contribute to program success and student development. Your dedication will make a lasting impact on participants' lives.
