Position Summary:

Responsibilities include evaluating engines against global exhaust emission regulations, preparing and assessing certification applications, coordinating with regulatory bodies and internal teams, and maintaining records of certifications and filings. Expertise in guiding on global emission standards, strategizing new control measures, and conducting internal training sessions is essential.
Job Functions:
- Support the evaluation of Yanmar's non-road, marine, and stationary engines with all applicable exhaust emission regulations from US EPA, CARB, Canada, Europe, China, and Korea.
- Prepare and evaluate applications for certification including exhaust emission test reports, auxiliary emission control device disclosures, deterioration factor reports, etc.
- Evaluate new emission control strategies in accordance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Prepare and submit relevant and applicable government agency filings and submissions applicable to certification, licensing, and approvals.
- Research and coordinate with business units and product development teams on standards applicable to Yanmar products.
- Plan and coordinate guidance to Yanmar on current and emerging world-wide engine emissions, certification, and compliance.
- Coordinate with Yanmar engineering departments and regulatory authorities to certify new engine technologies.
- Prepare regulatory summaries and conduct training for internal staff.
- Maintain electronic records of all certification applications, certificates, and executive orders.
- All other duties as assigned and/or needed to be successful in this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills required to effectively manage multi-layer functions.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment with discretion under varying conditions.
- Knowledge and understanding of business management side of legal function.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with general data acquisition and testing protocols including CAN communication (SAE J1939, J1979, etc.)
- Experience with engine calibration and associated software tools (INCA, etc.)
- Experience with diesel engines strongly preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with various finished goods and component regulations and standards from US OSHA, ANSI, SAE, UL, IEC, ISO,
- etc.
- Experience with the integration of vehicle or equipment powertrains, component specification and selection.
- Preferred experience working with UL, CSA, Intertek, and FCC
Job Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in internal combustion engine design, exhaust emission testing, and engine certification.
- Ability to travel, domestic and internationally, up to 10%
- Thrive in a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Deep knowledge and functional use of MS Office tools.
- Appropriately interact with others in stressful and busy situations.
- This position is full time and based in Adairsville, GA.
