We are seeking an experienced Employee and Labor Relations Partner in Riverside, CA. You will provide strategic human capital support to execute business strategies in a highly matrixed organization and promote a positive working experience, including employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, coaching and counseling leaders and employees on performance, career development, and leadership effectiveness. You will implement the functional labor relations strategy and maintain a positive working relationship with management and the union through coaching and guiding leaders through employee and labor relations issues. Additionally, you will provide contract interpretation, grievance management, prompt, thorough, and objective employee and grievance investigations, as well as support compliance initiatives.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Collaborate with HR partners to effectively support key HR processes and best practices to align business objectives
  • Develop strong, positive, reciprocal working relationships with HR colleagues, leaders, employees, and local union leadership
  • Assist and coach managers regarding employee relations, management/labor relationship, investigations, compliance, performance management, corrective actions, employee development, and contract interpretation
  • Partner with leaders to understand key business challenges and organization needs, and communicate and implement people programs that support business goals and get results
  • Coach managers through challenging performance management situations and support managers in developing and communicating plans to address areas of improvement
  • Collaborate with clients to understand training and development needs and retention risks, and develop action plans / advise accordingly
  • Conduct investigations, communicates regularly regarding pending investigations, provides timely investigation reports, and outlines the applicable corrective actions
  • Counsel employees on performance, career planning and other development
  • Objectively assess and bring to resolution employee relations issues
  • Use and demonstrate continuous improvement tools and methodology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes and tools
  • Analyze employee relations and labor relations trends and recommend and develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs, and policies
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state employment regulations including EEO/AAP


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree and 10 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated learning agility
  • Experience successfully implementing programs across teams
  • Ability to think systemically and consult strategically with all levels of management
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex competing priorities
  • Experience in the areas of employee/labor relations, internal investigations, conflict resolution, grievance handling, ad-hoc negotiations, and related matters
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Proven success in interacting and influencing senior/executive leadership


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statues, which govern employment policies and practices
  • Experience managing projects and designing programs to meet customer needs
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator
  • Experience leading investigations
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization
  • Proven success in delivering proactive employee relations initiatives that drive consistency and efficiency
