Position Summary

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor utilizes their expertise to support and counsel individuals through crisis intervention, brief solutions-focused counseling, referrals to treatment or other outside community resources, and ongoing follow-up for ECU Health team members and their eligible family members.

As a EAP Counselor, you will:
  • Provide orientation and well-being services to team members and their eligible family members
  • Coordinate consultation and counseling via face-to-face and/or video conferencing
  • Deliver management and leadership consultation and coaching, and other EAP organizational interventions

The counselor is a trusted and compassionate resource for ECU Health leadership and team members throughout the organization.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree, Licensed Major: Psychology, Social Work, MFT or other mental health field
  • LMFT, LCMHC, LCSW, PhD licensure
  • Provisionally licensed clinician considered. Must become fully licensed within 2 years
  • Two to three years' experience in short-term counseling or therapy experience in a clinical mental health

Preferred:
  • Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP)
  • Experience providing counseling to children and couples
  • Experience providing substance abuse assessment and counseling
  • Public speaking skills and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of a variety of counseling modalities, knowledgeable in community resources; basic knowledge of human resources practices and policies
  • Experience using electronic medical record and maintaining accurate clinical records per licensure standards

Other Information
  • 40 hours a week
  • Monday - Friday (8 am - 5 pm), shift hours may vary
  • Hybrid: Employees are required to work on-site for the 1st 90 days
  • Regional travel to other entities as needed
  • Rotating on call
