DESCRIPTION

The Office of Employee Relations is responsible for balancing a tripartite role of strengthening the relationship between employees and managers, adjudicating workplace concerns, and ensuring that organizational policies are followed consistently. The Employee Relations Coordinator (ER Coordinator) is part of a centralized team of Employee Relations Professionals who provide services to the Health System and Health Sciences enterprise (approximately 20,000 employees).

The ER Coordinator is the first point of contact for ER inquiries received via phone, handling many inbound and outbound calls to and from clients, listening to client needs/issues, and providing helpful solutions to their problems. The ER Coordinator will liaison with the ER team on matters of concern to ensure effective inquiry receipt, tracking, triage, and response. The incumbent will provide high-level support to ER staff concerning case coordination, analysis, preparation of communications, reports, and recommendations. The incumbent will take the lead responsibility for generating internal and external reports, including requests for information from legal partners and public records requests. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to performing a wide range of duties that require high-level analysis, tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility, and discretion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.
  • Knowledge of employee relations function and other subject areas of human resources.
  • Experience managing a high volume of phone calls.
  • Proficient knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills to produce correspondence and other materials that reflect professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Proven resilience in managing a demanding caseload, balancing shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional when working in high-conflict and crisis situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional experience performing employee relations activities in higher education and/or public sector.
  • Professional experience working in a union environment.
  • Experience using a case management system (e.g. ServiceNow).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
