Assists medical and nursing staff during endoscopy procedures. Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of the endoscopy rooms and that they are fully prepared. Prepares and maintains instruments and equipment; may obtain specimens.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that endoscopy rooms are clean, sterile and stocked prior to procedures, including sterilizing surgical instruments.
- Maintains inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
- Performs safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning; maintains or repairs endoscopic equipment.
- Prepares suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements.
- Cleans, disinfects, or calibrates scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards for colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, bronchoscopy and any other type of endoscopic procedure.
- Positions or transports patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel.
- Sets up, scrubs and supports members of the team during endoscopic procedures including collecting specimens from patients using standard medical procedures.
- Performs clerical duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining logs, pulling up and/or entering patient information, doing inventory and supporting the administrative and clerical staff as needed.
- Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three months of clinical experience and/or training in an ancillary department.
- Patient care in an acute care setting within thepast two years required.
- BLS certification.
Preferred:
- Endoscopy Technician Certification by the SGNA-Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates.
- One year of experience in a comparable medical setting.
