Pratt & Whitney Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engines. EDSI is responsible for overall engine system definition and management. This includes engine performance, operability, system level modeling and simulation, validation and verification of performance and operability requirements, and functional engine and air vehicle systems integration. EDSI also defines engine architecture, system and structural design as well as manages all requirements across the program.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking aSystems Analysis (SA) Engine Performance and Operability (EPO) Engineer supporting the commercial 30k engine programs. The candidates primary area of responsibility will be Engine Performance, but a willingness to stretch into Operability roles is preferred. This position is located in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform engine test data analysis, including data reduction; component and system performance evaluation; and model updates leading to a data matched model.
  • Coordinate performance and operability understanding with CIPTs.
  • Perform trade studies on hardware and software changes to achieve performance and operability requirements.
  • Work with CIPTs/EDSIT to quantify impacts of design changes and system trades, recommend optimal solutions to SIPT.
  • Manage NPSS model and operability audit through the CR life cycle.
  • Test and instrumentation planning for validation and certification.
  • Document test and analysis results in qualification reports.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and3+ years of prior relevant engineeringexperience OR
  • Advance Degree and 1+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • US Citizenship required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of engine performance, operability, cycle analysis, and engine matching.
  • Practical knowledge of test analysis integration.
  • Expertise with Unigraph and NPSS (including PDR).
  • Knowledge of control logic and control schedules generation.
  • Knowledge of component aerodynamics, air systems, heat transfer & secondary flow, or other SA or AeroThermalFluid disciplines.
  • Experiencein Python, MATLAB.
